About Us

Projects with Children

Welcome to our Virtual Clubhouse.

We are too young to yet have our own physical clubhouse building with its library and store of artefacts, so far the present, this website is our only permanent home.

At the present time in South East Essex there is no establishment up and running for teaching practical archaeological experience, as the local colleges do not have the facilities, or allocated funding, for this type of teaching.

Thanks to Channel 4's programme "Time Team", the present day interest in Archaeology is moving forward in leaps and bounds. However in this part of Essex there is an apparent void for new enthusiasts. It is Ages-AHA intentions to bridge this void and become a focal point for the local population and a source that they can turn to for reference, and wherever possible, teaching.

Originally formed as “AGES AAA” in 2003, the Association rebranded itself in November 2008 as “Ages AHA” with the AHA standing for Archaeological & Historical Association to better reflect the valuable historical research seen to be an integral part of most archaeological studies and certainly part of what we all enjoy doing on a regular basis.

We see ourselves as a gateway of archaeological and historical knowledge for the people of the area of the Thames Gateway north of the Thames taking in members from the Castle Point, Basildon, Rochford, Southend and potentially Thurrock areas.
